9-Year-Old Delhi Schoolgirl Dies After Collapsing in Class, Suspected Cardiac Arrest

A 9-year-old student died after collapsing in her Delhi classroom following sports activities. Her family's questions over emergency response, police observations and the suspected cause of death are under investigation.

A 9-year-old Class 3 student died after collapsing inside her classroom at Lovely Public School in Mayur Vihar, Delhi, on November 4. The girl reportedly fell unconscious shortly after returning from sports activities, with doctors suspecting cardiac arrest as the possible cause of death.

According to the available details, the incident occurred at around 9:52 a.m. after the student returned from sports. She stood for approximately two minutes before suddenly collapsing. School staff rushed her to a nearby medical facility and subsequently took her to Malik Redix Health Care, where doctors declared her dead.

Doctors suspected cardiac arrest, although the girl reportedly had no known prior health issues. The exact cause of death is yet to be established and will be determined through a post-mortem examination.

The incident has raised questions from the girl's family about the school's emergency response. Her relatives have questioned whether first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were administered promptly and whether the decision to take her to the particular hospital contributed to delays, especially given the traffic conditions.

Police, however, have noted that footage from the school indicates the teacher responded promptly after the girl collapsed. The sequence of events and the circumstances surrounding the school's response remain part of the ongoing investigation.

A post-mortem examination is expected to establish the cause of death as the investigation continues. The incident has also brought attention to the importance of emergency preparedness in schools, particularly staff training in first aid and CPR to respond to sudden medical emergencies involving students.
